Artist Beverly Carpenter worked in Durness Sutherland for 3 months in the autumn of 2004. She worked with a youth group and set up the Durness Studio. The studio has been proven sustainable and screening nights have offered a venue for studio video work as well as a platform for the whole community to enjoy and discuss world cinema as well as video making techniques. The wider local youth community have benefited from the opportunity to participate in new film making projects as well as being able to see how an artist operates within a community, bringing together events and artwork.
The final show called Off The Wall was on Friday 17th December 2004 at Smoo Cave, Durness from 7pm. This event of cave architecture and contemporary video and featured work created by the young people of Durness working with Beverley.
